Buddy Black and his staff have made their decisions, and announced tonight some roster moves and their final opening day roster.      

“Say, I’ve got a tip on the market for you fellows (1929 Toledo Mudhens) – buy Pennsylvania Railroad because by tomorrow night about a dozen of you bums will be riding on it…”

With only 2 days remaining before opening day the Padres sent 4 more players to the minor leagues today.      

Holding true to his promise to be at least the 21st manager to announce his opening day starter, Padres skipper Buddy Black finally made the announcement this morning.

The Padres made some more cuts from their spring training roster and are now down to 35 players in camp.      

“The highlight of my career? In ’67 with St. Louis, I walked with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run in an intersquad game in spring training.”
