The Padres have been relatively healthy this spring (knock on wood), but here is an update eon the few injuries victims they’ve had.
- Chase Headley – Back is feeling ok with playing time that resumed a few days ago.
- Jason Bartlett – Knee is not giving him any additional problems since resuming play a few days ago. This may end up being one of those things that he will have to stay on top of the rest of the season (which most players have at least one of during the year), but hopefully not something that inhibits his playing time or performance.
- Everth Cabrera – Tight shoulder is feeling better and he told me he will be ready to play tomorrow.
- Kyle Blanks – Foot is feeling better and should be back to game ready tomorrow.
- Edinson Rincon – Buddy just reported today that Edinson is having a little bit of a foot issue, and will probably miss a couple of days. Probably sore from all the pounding he has put on it from running around the bases after all his hits!
- Robbie Erlin – Slight oblique strain. Very mild at this point, but will still sit out a week probably to make sure it doesn’t become something more serious.
- Chris Denorfia – Sore lower back. Other that Forsythe’s foot surgery this is probably the most concerning nagging injury in spring so far. He’s been able to participate in some workouts and can shag fly balls, but still has episodes that are painful. He has missed a lot of time now, and there is no solid return date. As this goes on his opening day availability gets murkier as he simply may not get enough game reps to be ready.
- Logan Forsythe – Recovering from his foot surgery to remove the sesamoid bone in his left foot. Out up to 12 weeks.
All in all it’s been a pretty healthy spring for the Pads. Let’s hope that continues.
