Congratulations to Padres 3rd baseman Chase Headley for being named the N.L. Player of the week, for the period ending Aug. 12th.  

The Padres announced earlier today that they have agreed to a contract extension with infielder/outfielder Mark Kotsay through the 2013 season.  

The Padres announced today that they have placed LHP Joe Thatcher on the 15-Day DL, retroactive to July 26th, with right knee tendinitis.

The Padres just announced that they have agreed to terms with Huston Street on a contract extension through the 2014, with a club option for 2015.

Congratulations to Carlos Quentin and the San Diego Padres on agreeing to a contract extension guaranteed through the 2015 season, with an option for 2016.        

It was absolutely fascinating to watch.  As close to 35,000 fans eagerly entered Petco Park on a Saturday night to watch the Padres host the Reds, and get the highly coveted annual Padres Beach Towel giveaway,

It was by far the most exciting play I’ve seen from the broadcast booth this season, and it might the the first time I’ve seen a play like it in my life.
